Professional Background

Serving as a Sergeant in the Finnish Defense Forces was one of the most exciting times for a young man who had just graduated from high school. The military environment would come with responsibilities and opportunities that very few places could offer to a person at that stage of their lives. Leadership training, getting my own group and teaching them everything I knew while constantly learning more myself was something I truly enjoyed. The downside was to see how leadership position could be misused just because of a strong build in hierarchy system but I felt that this influenced the urge to do things differently myself.

After my time in the military, I decided to seek very different environment by moving to study abroad. I spent the next three and a half years studying a multidisciplinary study at Tilburg University, majoring in Business and Management. What I loved the most about this was the freedom to build a degree that reflected the important tools and exciting topics for me while keeping the necessary basics to fill certain requirements. Having neurobiology classes with marketing could definitely create more ‘’out of the box’’ ideas than simply viewing it from a business perspective.

Currently, I’m based in Rotterdam, working in IT which is a very interesting field itself as there are very few boundaries in what we can do today with the tools we have. Imagination plays a great part here; big part of the tools are already there to create something special. I would love to be part of developing such tools for education and development that could improve the accessibility of the education to areas and people who have had a limited access before.

On my free time, I try to do as much ‘’self-maintenance’’ as possible. This includes catching up with friends and family, basketball, nature and going to music festivals and of course, sauna! I love to engage in conversations with people with various backgrounds as it keeps us from being limited to certain views only and can offer very surprising solutions to problems by taking that side road.
